Damien HirstPage 1/1

Damien Hirst, British, born in 1965
As a graduate of Goldsmiths College, London, Damien Hirst was the leader of the Young British Artists movement, having organised the now infamous Freeze exhibition whilst still at college. His work is collected by Charles Saatchi, who included several of his pieces in his 1992 exhibition Young British Artists.
Hirst explores the uncertainty at the core of human experience; love, life, death, loyalty and betrayal through unexpected and unconventional media. His works recast fundamental questions concerning the meaning of life and the fragility of biological existence, and have sought to challenge the boundaries between art, science and popular culture.
His energy and inventiveness, and his consistently visceral, visually arresting work, has made him a leading artist of his generation.
