Albert Irvin, English, b. 1922
Irvin was awarded a Travel Award to America by the Arts Council in 1968 and later received an Arts Council Major Award and in 1983 he won a Gulbenkian Award for Printmaking. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1998 and lives and works in London.
Irvin uses high-key, vibrant colour in both his paintings and prints to achieve a dramatic full expressive and communicative force in all his work.
